heating fume boards
« on: August 20, 2012, 10:05:46 am »
I work a full time job and have 70 colonies of bee's.    Time is very important.  bad weather on a weekend is a major setback.   Started pulling one of my yards at 8:00 this past Sat morning. It was a cool damp morning and I new the boards wouldn't work well but needed to try anyway. I make my boards with a 19.875 X 16.25 rim with a pc of thin aluminum bought from the local newpaper stapled on top and painted black.  On the inside I use spray adhesive to fasten felt to hold the bee-go or bee quick.  They weren't doing anything so I lit my smoker using my trigger operated propane torch when it dawned on me.  Heat the board with the torch.  It worked better then a hot sunny day
