Call all the distributors large and small and beg and plead for one that's from last season or before last. Just maybe they have one they can give you a deal on. I would not hesitate any longer on this as spring is here now and it will be very difficult to find any winter deals.

I stepped up and bought an electric one last season. I priced around and compared quality and am very pleased with mine. They are a pleasure to deal with, customer service is top notch.

Of course if new is not in your budget now, perhaps one of our members will have a deal for you.

Best of luck!

did you get the 20 frames?

It is a little pricey, but Idon't want to buy one and then just outgrow it in a year.
I figured by time next year I will have about 14 to 18 hives...
This year I am shooting for 140# out of each of six hives, and possible eight to ten nucs

Yes, I did get the 20 frame and love it! However, the 9 frame electric is a lot of machine and gets the job done for way less.

JP,

I've been looking at the 9 frame extractor as well.  Isn't it really a 6 medium frame or 3 deep frame extractor though?  I run all deeps and would love a 9 frame that can run those radially!

That is correct. Yep, most people run medium supers, so a 20 frame Maxant would be for 20 mediums and 10 deeps.

The Dadant 20 frame ext. holds 20 deep frames. Dadant and Maxant are both top quality machines.

Mannlake has one for $999

Are those OK?

BTW look at the price on the picture...classic! It doesn't match the sell current price.

Nice price! See if they offer heavy duty legs. I opted for them with mine. The extra weight makes it very stable.

I bought this one last year for another beek and he never picked it up. It is still in the original box. I have never opened it. You can have it at last year's price of 885.00 if you want it.
I can either ship it freight collect or get a freight cost and you can prepay it.

I bought a Mann Lake 18/9 motorized extractor last year and I was not impressed with it at all, it just felt cheap and I had nothing but problems with it.  One of the biggest of them being that the even with the speed controller, I could not get it to spin slow enough.  It was either off, or running at an rpm that was too fast.  I use deep frames with wax and wire foundation, so I wanted it to spin as slow as possible at the start due to the weight of the frames with honey in it, but even on its  slowest setting, I blew frames out.  So IMHO I would not recommend this extractor.

Look at the Maxant. USA made at an old, family owned business that still believes in quality.
