Disappointment
« on: March 28, 2013, 10:28:34 pm »
Well Guys,

Got a disappointing phone call the morning but truthfully I had been expecting it.

Seem I won't become a beek this weekend.

The bees haven't built up enough for them to make PKGS as of yet.

It been too cold and rainy so far this year.

Oh well.  They are trying for April 6th now. Its only one more week but darn. Was really hoping.

I know it will happen but I hate the wait.

Can't control  Mother Nature.
I hate having to make those type calls.  That's why I try to project 2 weeks past when I really expect the bees to be ready.  That way if I'm right people are surprised. If I'm wrong then they Aren't disappointed.

I have nucs promised for the second week of May that are making my commodious belly boil!  I have queens coming to make the splits the middle of April and after pulling a few frames I am really spooked.  Last year at this time I had frames and frames of solid brood, but this year the bees are effectively just starting to perk.  I found the first pollen of the year being stored around repectable patches of new eggs.  I guess I am realling needing that reputed carniolan brood build explosion!

Last year the weather had me behind by almost a month. I did not enjoy the calls from impatient clients.
But understood.
Shame the bees don't read our minds and act like we want them to!!   Durn bugs.
Hang in there. They will get there.

I too have customers biting at the bits.
I'm trying to tell them as soon as the temperatures moderate things will happen.
But if I do it right now the bees and or larva will die.
So far so good.
