Storage of supers with uncured nectar
« on: September 05, 2013, 08:51:58 pm »
I'm going to extract this weekend and have some frames that are not full of capped honey. They have maybe 25% capped honey, and a bunch of curing nectar.
What should I do with these? Should I leave them outside the hive and let the bees clean them up before storing the frames, or freeze the frames and put them back on the hives with next year's supers? Any thoughts?

I'd let the bees clean them up.

you can do either.  you can save them for feeding later if you want.  you can feed them back now.
Someone really ought to tell them that the world of Ayn Rand?s novel was not meant to be aspirational.

A commercial beekeeper with over 50 years of experience told me to store the supers in a small room with a dehumidifier the day before extracting and you can extract everything. It has worked great for me with very low readings on the hygrometer.

Hey TNjohn,

I sent you a pm. I have some friends in your neck of the woods I was asking about.
