Howdy i have a couple of hives that came out of winter like gang busters both had a super of honey each and the queen is filling both brood chamber and super full of brood. The thing is they have been busy working like mad ad they have room for the queen to lay in the brood camber i see that a hive has filled several frames with honey and capping them over and i was wndering will this force the queen to move back down into the brood chamber and stay. Both hives are super strong they have built up more then the others in fact the others are just starting to buildup. One hive i put a second super on and they are filling it up with honey but the queen laid in some of the frames and the bees are filling in around them this is the firs time my queens has ever laid in the super by them filling up with new honey and filling the as the brood come out.

i had one like that last week, it swarmed on me two days ago, it still left me a good hive but it could have been a lot better without the swarm

You can put a queen excluder on wait 3 days and look for eggs in the super. If no eggs are found she's down below the excluder and just prop the top a little to let drones get out when they hatch and wait for the bees to fill with honey. If she's laying eggs after 3 days in the super your gonna need to brush all the bees out of super down into the brood chamber. Then you'll want to leave the excluder on prop the top and wait for the bees to back fill after the new bees have emerged with honey. Keep in mind once they finish filling the super you have less of a chance of this happening as rarely a queen will walk across a super of capped honey to lay eggs. Hope this helps and wish you luck had it happen to me before it's a pretty easy fix.
