Cotton
« on: September 29, 2007, 11:21:16 am »
There is a section of the yard that I hav e some say so as to what gets planted.
I did sunflowers the first time in this section. I had a beautiful crop of sunfowers.
Now it is time to replant. So I decided to do something different. A hierloom green cotton.
So I am going to grow cotton. The seeds have germinated and been placed in started pots. They are getting their first real leaves. This is going to be interesting. I threaten my wife by telling her I was going to get her a spinning wheel.  :)

Sincerely,
Brendhan

Brendhan, that is cool.  I bet your Sunflower crop was magnificent, I love sunflowers.  Tell us more about what you guys did in your garden this year.  I remember your wife was into some cool stuff!!!!!

Hey, what about that green cotton!!!!  I am interested to hear what comes of this.  Heirloom, even better.  I bet cotton would be an interesting plant to grow.  Do you think the cotton will actually be green, I can't wait to hear more about this.  By the way, get her a spinning wheel, I bet she would really love to get into something like that, I'm not kidding.  Have a wonderful day, enjoy this life we're a'livin'.  Cindi

I had some cotton sent with the seeds. It is green. White cotton is a hybrid. It was neat some of things I found out about cotton.

The cotton plant is actually quite beautiful has very pretty flowers.

The wife is growing her second crop of her heirloom tomatos.

She has the Daikon, carrots, green beans , basil, mustard greens, and peppers.

The bananas and plantains are doing well. the Paypas are doing so well the tree is leaning.

There is some wild coffee growing and other stuff, but hell if I can remember it all.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

Wild coffee, how interesting. I happen to love papayas. Are they the big type or the ones that are the size of avocados?

I'm very jealous, I'm particularly fond of the smaller papayas. Ever roast the wild coffee?

From what my wife tells me the wild coffee is more ornamental than the type of coffee plant used to make coffee people drink.

Neither she nor I drink coffee so we haven't tried anything with it.

Brendhan

Did You Know?
It is against the LAW to grow cotton as a novelty in Georgia.
Did you also know cotton belongs to the same family as holly hocks?
Did you also know I am 66 years old and was raised on a farm.
Did you also know that is why I've been so many places and done so many things.
and did you know my spell check isn't working and I didn't pay attention in school?
And that I am in the mood to do what I am doing right now? ;)

Doak, so you are one weird dude  :)  I love holly hocks, grow them here, but wonder how they can be related to cotton, kind of fluffy looking, I guess.  Why would cotton be illegal to grow cotton as a novelty, now that doesn't make any sense at all, hmm.  Have a great day, great life.  Cindi

Thank goodness Brendhan isn't in Georgia, he can grow his beautiful green cotton!!!!!

You can see the similarities in the blossoms, and then the seeds.

Clematis, columbines, ranunculus - they're all in the same family.  Lilacs and olives are related.  Strange bedfellows  :)

Has to do with the bowl weevil control. At one time they almost got us.
Also any agriculture equipment coming into Ga has to be Inspected and treated.
We also have a Governor in Ga. :)
