A Syrphid of some sort, sometimes called a Hover fly. Their larva/groube forms are predators of aphids and very beneficial to have in a garden. To a degree they also pollinate plants but little is know about this.

Thanks guys. This is actually a "flickr friend" that took this photo. She has a Nikon D80 with a Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 lens. It's a "VR" or vibration reduction lens (as you probably know). She is not only a great photographer, but has great equipment and a good sense of humor.

Scott I am pretty sure it is a syrphid fly species. I am going to try to get a picture of mine into this post so you can see how similar they look. There are so many species of the syrphid. Beautiful shot by the way. Have the best of a wonderful day. Cindi
