Windows 7 RTM if you want it
« on: September 29, 2009, 12:01:19 am »
I have been using Windows 7 RC - 64 Bit since the day it was given out and can keep using it till June 2010.
It seems faster than XP MCE or Vista.
I didn't like the Vista that came on the HP touch screen laptop, it died, wouldn't let you to the boot screen to do a recovery. Turned out that was a good thing, as I had both a 32 bit and 64 bit versions on hand.
Installed the 32 bit onto Laptop and was back in. Only had to go online for one printer driver. I was impressed.

Shared knowledge is a good thing. Anyone can get the newest Windows 7 RTM for 90 days free, NOW.

Please read this article carefully then decide.

We are running Windows 7 Enterprise here on a couple machines in the IT Essential lab.  Works great, even on a half gig of RAM.  I was surprised since Vista requires 4 gig to run half decent. My students like it better than Vista, although it has no mail client.  I think MS is scheduled to release this version to the public October something.  We belong to the MSDNAA so we are privy to current releases before they hit the public.  Windows 7 Ultimate is on the schedule as well.

Ps: please read comments about claiming to be a IT worker, are not we all?
I will date myself by saying it all started with a " Vic 20 4kb ram"

I'm really surprised with Win7. Looks like Microsoft finally got it right... what was amazing for me was to see the difference between Vista and Win7 (Ultimate version) on the same hardware and the speed difference. I have it running on an Intel 3ghz box with only 1 gig of ram... Win7 actually zips along whereas Vista was... well you know... wishing for about 3 gigs more of ram. Night & day difference.
