Post by: duck on July 23, 2012, 10:26:55 pm
ive got at least a hundred bees on the landing board and front of the box of each hive just washboarding all day long!  they all started about three days ago.. pretty weird.

This is common in my experience and I have always associated it the a healthy colony, at least it has been that way for me. In a heavy flow I don't see too much of it.

What is weird about it?   That is just what a healthy hive does.   I love to see it.   They just need a little music.

All of my stronger hives are wash boarding. This is an indication that your queen has been laying real well, at least she was about 5 weeks ago. It is hot in the hive so they are out side the hive looking for something to do. If they were just bearding,  during the day, it would mean you have an excess of field bees with either no food available or no place to put it in the hive.
