At the most southern point of New Jersey is Capemay - a Bed & Breakfast Resort Town with quaint downtown shopping, dozens of fine restruants and many pubs. We have stayed at the Fairthorne Inn twice and it's nice for the accessibilty to the beach and shopping.
The Fairthorn is a smaller B&B than most in Capemay. Each room with
private bath, TV and Air-Conditioning make your stay on rainy days comfortable.
Although a walk up to the third floor rooms can be a workout after a filling
meal.
Fairthorn lacks some in the breakfast department though. Each day our meals came out meat heavy or too greasy for the health conscience. I enjoy bacon and greasey stuff as much as anyone - but Tracey had trouble looking as big link sausage on the plate each morning.
The beaches are different here. They are hundreds of feet from the boardwalk. Tons of bathers could lay here on these long beaches. Strong legs help trek through these soft sandy beaches. But during low tide you can find a huge selection of shells, starfish and other neat stuff washed up from the sea.
At night, I enjoy a pub on the beach that has Jazz Bands appearing each night. Nothing like live Jazz and this pub with no atmosphere is only a short walk from the B&B. Expect good food everywhere in Cape MAy. You will find the best eateries in the Mall area. Quaint shopping and sidewalk eating is what makes Cape May so special. It is a small town with lots of pedestrian traffic only.
