Metropolitan Museum of Art
Tracey and I enjoy museums and the Metropolitan in New York is one of the finest in the world. I have been there for the Dead Sea Scrolls and also a Picasso Exhibit. Both times were enjoyable and I'm always amazed at the enormous size of this massive building. Shown here is our good friend Mary. I'm not sure exactly what she's doing in this photo, but it sure makes for good website makin'. On this trip, Tracey and I went via a bus sponsored trip by the County Parks Department. Mary, a very good friend was working the tour that day, so we got to keep her company for the whole trip. As a beekeeper I was amazed to meet someone on the bus who actually carried an anaphylactic kit in case of bee sting. Most people say they are allergic, but usually the symptoms they describe are normal reactions to being stung. Believe me, swelling is normal, as is itching. It's when you can't breathe cause your chest and arm muscles are cramping and robbing you of air - then you are having a severe reaction and need immediate help.

We arrived at the Museum and made our way inside. We walked from wing to wing grabbing photos and sharing thoughts about every painting and sculpture. Lunch that day was in the Museum Cafeteria - the three of us cost $42.00 for ok sandwiches and only one beer. I really suggest you either pack a lunch and eat in Central Park - which is right there on the 5th Ave. entrance of the Museum. Or take a walk around the museum and catch lunch on the street or nearby eateries.

No photos were allowed in the Picasso section, but I did grab some photos using my old Sony Mavica. I hope you check out my wallpaper section to see some photos from my hi-res Olympus. There is a stunning difference in resolution and image capturing features. These photos on this page are ok, but checkout the photos on the Times Square page and compare the difference.

I stepped outside while Tracey and Mary shopped in the Museum Gift shop - it was then when the Monster.com Bus came rolling by. I was lucky and captured this photo before it go away. I enjoy unique vehicles and I clearly remember seeing the Oscar Mayer Wiener Mobile when I was 7 years old and later I saw the Bat-mobile ( no. 1 of 4 Bat mobiles ) and I've always enjoyed tour-buses and other unique craft.

This wasn't a busy day, but any trip to the city is worth mentioning. More importantly, any time spent in Mary's company is a joy and on this day we got to hang out and talk up a storm.

Two years earlier, the three of us and another friend Lisa came to see Lion King on Broadway. I can honestly saw that Lion King knocked my socks off. From the opening march of amazing stage animals who converge at the base of a cliff to pay homage to Simba Birth, thru the elephant graveyard and on to the powerful ending - Lion King is a must see if you are to see ANYTHING on Broadway. Good luck getting tickets though, people book 18 months in advance.

There is something magical about Manhattan. I walked there most recently while visiting WWF New York Restaurant and the Intrepid Air Craft Carrier Museum. Please visit the Times Square Page to see some great city wallpaper and more info of the Intrepid and WWF New York.
